HOW TO BEAT BALDNESS SAFELY & EFFECTIVELY

 K. Ashton

Having suffered from hair loss since my early twenties, over time, I have managed to slow down and stop the shedding. I am now 37, and my hair seems thicker and healthier than it has ever been. And this, by avoiding prescription drugs, like Finasteride.

When I look at my male friends, most of whom are around the same age as me, I'd say 90% of them are now bald. Most of my friends started losing their hair in their twenties, and by the time they hit their thirties, it was game over, sadly for them.

It's pretty crazy to think that at the age of 25, I was seeing significant hair fall, and I was terrified I wouldn't make it to the age of 30 with a head of hair. Now I'm pretty convinced I'll make it to 50 with a relatively full head of hair, which, as you can imagine, I am delighted about. I've also managed to do all this without using harsh prescription drugs that have potentially negative side-effects.

How have I stopped Hair Loss?

There really is no secret as to how I stopped my hair falling out. I just acted early, and was very persistent. There was never a 'magical cure' for my balding - it was simply about me going through a phase of 'trial and error', in order to find the right treatment that worked best for me. When battling hair loss, you have to be patient, but also persistent.

I threw away a heck of a lot of my hard earned cash on products that simply didn't work. I used some products for a year, and I didn't see a single new hair grow in that period of time. Investing a lot of time and money on hair products that have absolutely no effect on your hair, is not ideal, but in my case, it was necessary.

So, just to bear in mind, it wasn't easy for me, but the whole process was absolutely worth the time and money spent. I now have a good hair care routine and a few products that have enabled me to get to a point where the excess shedding of hair has been halted, or slowed down, at the very least.

Make sure you do your research. Know the market, know what you are buying, and develop a good knowledge of ingredients, case studies and facts. The more you know about the industry, the better chance you will have of finding an effective treatment.

What's my Hair Loss Prevention routine?

Now, I wouldn't say it was just one product or treatment in particular that helped me stop my hair falling out. It was more of a combination of products and treatments that gave me the right hair care routine, that, in turn, helped stop the shedding, and helped my hair grow healthier and thicker.

I still get a lot of people asking me what my exact hair care routine is, and I'm always happy to share it with anyone who wants to know. So, here's what I use throughout the week, in order to help stop excess hair shedding, and promote healthy hair growth.

*I should state that there isn't a cure for hair loss. None of these treatments are cures, but they can help slow down and stop hair loss in people suffering from early stages of baldness.

A. HR23+ Hair Restoration Supplement

I use HR23+ daily, as instructed on the label (four capsules a day). This supplement is the best I have tried, and is an essential part of my daily hair loss prevention routine. I've tried so many multi-vitamin hair supplements over the years (TRX2, Procerin, Nutrafol), but none of them worked for me.

HR23+ was the first product that showed significant improvement in my strands, and still, to this day, is seems to work very well for my hair. HR23+ won't regrow lost hair, but I do put much of my halted hair loss down to this supplement.

B. OGX Argan Oil Shampoo

Argan Oil shampoo thickens my hair dramatically, and argan oil is a proven hair beneficiary ingredient. I use this shampoo about 2-3 times a week, and it works well in thickening the appearance my hair. The phenols in argan oil support and strengthen hair follicles. The vitamins in argan oil promote healthy skin and scalp. So, argan oil not only promotes hair growth, but it helps you grow thick, healthy hair to boot.

C. Minoxidil Foam

Minoxidil is the only medically approved topical hair loss treatment. Due to that fact, I thought I'd give it a try. At first, I noticed severe shedding, which is apparently a normal thing to experience during the early stages of usage, but I wasn't overly keen on continuing with it, so I stopped using it. Then, a couple of years later, I decided to start using it again, but I keep my use of this stuff to an absolute minimum. I apply the Minoxidil foam to my scalp around once, maybe twice, a week.

This formula won't work for everyone, but it can make a slight difference, if used consistently. Also, it should be noted that minor negative side-effects can occur with this solution, but only in very rare cases.

D. Biotin 5000mcg

I decided to add Biotin to my hair care routine, which I now take every day, and I have opted for the 5000mcg, as I already take the vitamin in the HR23+ supplement. I find the extra dosage of Biotin can potentially help with the healthy function of stronger, faster hair growth, but it does not regrow lost hair.

Although there is no recommended dietary allowance for biotin, proponents often recommend taking 2-5 mg (2000 to 5000 mcg) of biotin in supplement form daily in order to strengthen hair shafts and achieve results.

E. Derma Roller

After reading about micro-needling and its ability to stimulate hair follicles, I decided to give it a try. I use a derma roller, which is a micro-needling device, about once or twice a week, in and around my temples and crown region of my scalp. It's a good device that can help regrow hair, especially when used in conjunction the other treatments.

I find, as many others do, that the derma roller is particularly effective when used with minoxidil. The two combine to help stimulate the growth of hair follicles. I use the 0.5mm derma roller twice a week, but I do not apply minoxidil on those two days.

F. OGX Biotin & Collagen Shampoo

The Biotin & Collagen Shampoo is another gem by OGX, and remains one of the best shampoos I've ever tried. I also find that this product works particularly well when used in conjunction with HR23+. I couldn't tell you why, but the two seem to produce excellent improvements in my hair. This shampoo may not perform miracles, but it might help strengthen your hair strands --- and it certainly won't do your hair any harm. Give it a try! hair growth supplement

HOW TO TREAT HAIR LOSS SAFELY AND NATURALLY

How to best tackle the devastating effects of baldness and thinning hair, safely, naturally and effectively.

Guest post by Ben Bianchi.

Going bald was never an option for me, and certainly not while I was still in my twenties. But noticing my hair beginning to fall out at the age of just 24, really made me sit up and take action.

I am now 31, and I have been treating baldness for over six years.  I would say, certainly in comparison to most men, I have done a good job in steadying the pattern of fall, and maintaining a good head of healthy hair growth.

I honestly believe, had I not treated the problem early, I would now have much less hair on my scalp. Finding a hair loss treatment plan early, has enabled me to slow down the rate of hair fall, and increase the strength and condition of hair growth.

Here, I'll go through my treatment plan, and what products worked for me. I was always keen to avoid chemically enhanced treatments, so all the products I use are safe and natural.

Shampoo for strengthening hair

With very little knowledge about hair loss treatments, my first thought was to find a shampoo that could help strengthen my hair, thus making it less likely to fall out. Now, I know fully well that there is no scientific evidence backing the theory that baldness can be treated with shampoos, but, a good hair strengthening shampoo can be very handy if you have naturally thin hair, like me.
Due to its blend of biotin and collagen, I went for the OGX Biotin & Collagen Shampoo. It's not a miracle worker, but this shampoo has definitely helped me maintain some much needed volume to my hair. Keeping my hair strong is essential, because I have naturally weak hair, and this can be prone to breakage and fall-out, which is a nightmare if you are trying to prevent hair loss.

Topical serum to stimulate hair growth

My next task was to find something that could help prevent the rate of shedding, and stimulate hair growth.  I looked into topical solutions, and the main one that kept popping up was Minoxidil. Minoxidil is a medically approved treatment for hair loss, but it's not natural, and it does come with some potentially harsh side-effects.
So, I looked into some natural serums, and after considering a fair few, I opted for HR23+ Scalp Therapy Serum. This safe and natural formula is packed with hair beneficiary ingredients that can help prevent hair loss and encourage healthier hair growth. I have been using this serum for about four years, and I have been very pleased with it.  This serum seems to have stopped the shedding, and helped strengthen my strands.

Massaging the scalp for hair growth

I did a lot of reading about how scalp penetration and can help stimulate hair growth. I looked at derma rollers, and vibrating massaging devices, but I wanted something a little more valid.

So, I booked myself into some Indian Head Massage Therapy, just to see how effective it could be for my thinning hair.  I have definitely noticed some great results from this. My hair looks and feels much thicker, and I have definitely noticed less hair fall.  This, in conjunction with the shampoo and serum, has helped my hair considerably.  Currently, I have one head massage a week.

Hair Vitamins and Supplements

What we eat is actually hugely important to our hair.  For the hair to thrive, we need to be loading our bodies with plenty of vital nutrients and minerals that benefit the strands. The problem is, it's impossible to get all these minerals into our daily diet through food alone.  So, that's why multi-vitamin hair supplements are so important.

There are a number of safe and natural multi-vitamin hair supplements available on the market. The most notable ones are Viviscal, Nutrafol, and HR23+.  I use HR23+, and I have been very pleased with the results it has given me. Since taking this supplement, I have noticed much less hair fall, and my strands have gone thicker and stronger.  If you suffer from early stages of thinning hair and you haven't tried multi-vitamin hair supplements, then I would highly recommend you do so.

Tips to tackle baldness

Just remember, there's no cure for male-pattern baldness, but some products and procedures can slow it down, and even prevent it. I have managed to dramatically slow down the rate of hair fall, and that's because I use a range of treatments that work best for me individually.  Results from using treatments of this nature will vary from person to person.

It also helps hugely if you tackle hair loss as early as possible.  The earlier you treat it, the more chance you will have of getting on top of it.  I really can't stress that point enough.  Also, if you're particularly worried about thinning hair, and you are struggling to find something that works, then I would advise you see a specialist, who might be able to recommend some treatments for you.

I am not a specialist in hair loss, and all the treatments I use are safe and natural. They are also available to purchase over the counter, with no prescription needed. The natural route is hugely important to me, but if you don't mind going down the medical route, with the potential risks of side-effects, then there are a couple of options available, such as Finasteride and Minoxidil.

Hair loss is a pretty horrid thing to go through, but it's not something that can't be treated.  Just tackle it early, and don't give up.  If you want your hair for longer, then you'll need to fight for it, and trust me, the fight will be worth it!

Dry shampoos do not treat common hair loss conditions, but they can help with the appearance of your hair.  If you have thin, tired looking strands, then invest in a dry shampoo that contains thickening agents. Over-washing your hair can cause breakage and damage, therefore that's why dry shampoos are so handy - they keep you hair clean and voluminous on those days you aren't washing your locks.
